About Glossop Counselling & Therapist
I’m an experienced counsellor, and love working with adults and young people, tailoring my approach to their individual needs. I have worked in the NHS, voluntary sector and and private practice with men and women from all backgrounds on many issues, including the following:
- Abuse
- Anxiety
- Depression
- Self-esteem
- Self-confidence
- Bereavement
- Grief and loss
- Relationship difficulties
- Work-related stress
- Anger
- Loss of feeling
- Gender issues
- Stress
My approach is person-centred, which means that I explore the issues a client brings; I don’t have my own agenda. I also work with a number of other therapeutic styles, including expressive therapies (using voice, sound, breathwork and poetry) when it feels appropriate for the client. Also I may sometimes offer EFT (tapping).
I aim to offer a safe space, where clients can explore their thoughts, feelings and behaviour. I offer acceptance and non-judgment; my aim is to help clients find a way forward in difficult times.
In our initial 50 minute session we will talk and discuss how it might be to work together. We will identify the areas in your life which you wish to change; the reason for coming to counselling. We will contract for six sessions initially and then review the progress made and decide how many further sessions may be necessary, though a client has the option to stop whenever it suits them.
In counselling the relationship is very important and if, at the end of the session we both feel comfortable together a weekly appointment will be agreed upon. The number of sessions required will vary with each client.
